Nonlocal and Local Ghost Fields in Quantum Correlations
نویسنده
چکیده
Einstein Podolsky Rosen quantum correlations are discussed from the perspective of a ghost field introduced by Einstein. The concepts of ghost field, hidden variables, local reality and the Bell inequality are reviewed. In the framework of the correlated singlet state of two spin2 particles, it is shown that quantum mechanics can be cast in a way that has the form of either a nonpositive and local ghost field or a positive and nonlocal ghost field. Ghost Symmetries
We introduce the notion of a ghost characteristic for nonlocal differential equations. Ghosts are essential for maintaining the validity of the Jacobi identity for the characteristics of nonlocal vector fields. The local theory of symmetries of differential equations has been well-established since the days of Sophus Lie. Generalized, or higher order symmetries can be traced back to the origina...

We explore here the issue of duality versus spectrum equivalence in abelian vector theories in 2 + 1 dimensions. Specifically we examine a generalized self-dual (GSD) model where a Maxwell term is added to the self-dual model. A gauge embedding procedure applied to the GSD model leads to a Maxwell-Chern-Simons (MCS) theory with higher derivatives. We show that the latter contains a ghost mode c...

Quantum mechanics and relativistic causality together imply nonlocality: nonlo-cal correlations (that violate the CHSH inequality) and nonlocal equations of motion (the Aharonov-Bohm effect). Can we invert the logical order? We consider a conjecture that nonlocality and relativistic causality together imply quantum mechanics. We show that correlations preserving relativistic causality can viola...

We quantize massive vector theory in such a way that it has a well-defined massless limit. In contrast to the approach by Stückelberg where ghost fields are introduced to maintain manifest Lorentz covariance, we use reduced phase space quantization with nonlocal dynamical variables which in the massless limit smoothly turn into the photons, and check explicitly that the Poincare algebra is full...
متن کاملResponse to "The physics of ghost imaging - nonlocal interference or local intensity fluctuation correlation?"
Shih has objected to the semiclassical explanation for lensless pseudothermal ghost imaging—whose measurement configuration is shown schematically in Fig. 8 of [1]—that is reviewed by Shapiro and Boyd. In Shih’s view, the only valid explanation for lensless pseudothermal ghost imaging is nonlocal two-photon interference, i.e., a purely quantum phenomenon. Shapiro and Boyd also develop that expl...
